OpenOffice.org Extends Itself

One of the great strengths of open source is its extensibility. This might be at the code level, or through self-standing extensions, as with Firefox. So it's really good news - if long overdue - that OpenOffice.org is doing something similar with a formal repository.

Yes, OOo 2.3 has added a lot under the hood that allows for real extensions. For example before this month's release it was not possible to add to the documentation or to insert an item into the menu. These are vital things for good extensions.
