Stop Software Patents in Europe

I've written a number of times about the unsatisfactory state of software patents in Europe – theoretically forbidden, but in practice, frequently sneaking in by the back door. Now there's a petition calling for greater legal clarity....

Yes, I got an FFII email about it a couple of days ago and - hoping this was going to be a rerun of the famous half million signature petition - I signed it.

Then I noticed that it hadn't been mentioned anywhere in the press and hadn't even turned up in the FFII news feed!

I hope more publicity can be generated for it otherwise I doubt it'll do much better than a few tens of thousands of sigs. and it will have been a waste of time.

I fear you're right: they are hardly beating the drum about it. Perhaps they need to import some Spreadfirefox savvy....

SSP.eu does not even mention the threat of a central patent court.
