What's Wikipedia Got Against Open Source?

This is curious:

In case you didn't notice, Openbravo does not have an entry in the English edition of the Wikipedia, the fine community driven encyclopedia.

For some reason, the word Openbravo has been "blacklisted" and any attempt to create an entry about Openbravo gets automatically deleted.

Given the open source-y nature of Wikipedia, you would have thought it would have had a natural tendency to look favourably on open source companies like Openbravo. So what gives, Jimmy?

probably the lack of reliable thrid party sources talking about the thing.

Maybe. At least that's fixed now....(just kidding).

Wikipedia doesn't have anything against open source. They have stuff against lack of source. ;)

The article was unsourced which is a common reason for deletion on Wikipedia. Although the software notability policy is not flagged as an actual policy, it still gives some ideas as to why the article was deleted.

I've rescued the page for the Open Source Wiki at Wikia where there are no such requirements for notability.

Well, I agree it's important to have criteria for inclusion, but I would have thought Openbravo meets all of them.

It's been written about widely (including by me), and is rapidly becoming the leading open source ERP application. As you know, ERP is one of the last bastions of hugely-complex, and hugely-expensive proprietary applications; the appearance of a serious open source contender that is rapidly gaining momentum seems eminently worthy of Wikipedia's attention, as well as of Wikia.
