The Real Crowdsourcing

Tuangou 团购 - not sourcing from crowds, but sourcing for crowds:

for tuangou, it's all about shopping, aggregating enough people to be able to get a discount or better terms on everything from cars to home remodelling materials to real estate.

This post also has a good picture of the physical reality of tuangou.

I'm interested to find out how tuangou could work with real estate purchases.

I run the tuangou web site StoreMob http://storemob.com/ and I'm having trouble getting enough users at this early stage (only launched this week).

Having a section on real estate would attract a lot of new users who could team up to save money, so I'd love to hear your thoughts on the subject, thanks, Eliot

Nice name, Store Mob.

I'm afraid I don't get understand the question: what has "real estate" got to do with tuangou, which as I understand it is about buying movable goods? What benefit would there be having a crowd turn up in front of a house for sale? What's the model you had in mind?

Hi Glyn, glad you like the name, I was surprised the domain was even available when I bought it.

Real estate is mentioned in the original blog post above as being something that tuangou could help with getting discounts for. I don't know how it would work - any ideas?

Ah yes, you're right about the real estate - I'd not noticed it. Probably because it still seems unlikely to work to me....
